Aspirational opportunities for all, through the breath of God

PE

At St George’s C of E Primary School, we aim to provide an ambitious PE curriculum that pupils from Reception to Year 6 not only enjoy but also allows them to experience a range of activities that help them to develop their health, fitness and wellbeing. We intend to offer a high-quality sequenced physical education curriculum that inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. We value the importance of both physical activity and physical education equally. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed our school values of love, share, care, trust and respect.

Our curriculum for PE aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities

  • are physically active for sustained periods of time

  • engage in competitive sports and activities

  • lead healthy, active lives

Our vast facilities available allow us to be ambitious and creative with our teaching using our two playgrounds, ball court, large sports field, small and big hall and our fantastic outdoor sports facilities. We encourage the local community to get involved and have links with football, dance, swimming and cricket, both clubs and venues to broaden the experience our children receive. PE and Sport is in the heart of what we do here at St George’s and we have a wealth of awards and trophies to prove our exceptional curriculum and extra-curricular activities really do provide the best opportunities for all our pupils.
