History

Pupils learn through our planned and sequenced curriculum, that history has helped develop our society today and formed a sense of our identity. Our curriculum, supports pupils in enhancing their knowledge of historical topics and applying their understanding in other subjects. Historical themes progress from exploring family history and looking at how pupils have changed, since being babies, to studying significant explorers and events including World Wars I & II.

The curriculum develops an awareness of the past, using common words and phrases relating to the passage of time and pupils identify similarities and differences between ways of life in different time periods. Pupils are encouraged to use a wide vocabulary, ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement.
