Geography
Geography is essentially about understanding the world in which we live. Geography helps to provoke and provide answers to questions about the natural and human aspects of the world. At St George’s our intent, is to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and communities within it; to promote the pupils interest and understanding of diverse places, people, resources, climates and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
At St George’s School pupils are encouraged to develop a curiosity about their immediate location and the greater world around them. Our nature garden, woodland walk and immediate area support in this aim. The geography curriculum enables pupils to develop knowledge and skills that are transferrable to other curriculum areas and areas of life. Geographical themes progress from exploring the World around us in EYFS, to exploring the World beyond; including key geographical features such as climate change and ecosystems, as we progress through the curriculum.
